Heavy Duty Horn Antenna is designed for handling high power levels and operating over a wide frequency range. It normally has a feed element at its wide end, and metal horn-shaped structure with a waveguide at its narrow end. It operates based on the concept of electromagnetic radiation, where electromagnetic waves are produced by the feed element and propagated by means of the waveguide to the horn. The horn later amplifies and directs the electromagnetic waves in a specific direction. Further, Heavy Duty Horn Antennas are mostly utilized in applications, requiring high gain, like in satellite communication, radio astronomy, and radar systems.
